Who we are

Centre for Development and Disaster Management Nepal (CDM Nepal) is a non-governmental, non-for profit development, humanitarian and advocacy organization ndehi having contact office in Kapilvastu and Arghakhanchi.

Established in 1993 in Rupandehi, CDM has now become one of the fastest growing and respected Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) in Nepal especially on DRR, emergency response in WASH, Health, Education and recovery interventions.

Working with socially excluded and marginalized communities of rural Nepal, CDM implements women empowerment, disaster and climate risk management, livelihoods improvement, WASH and integrated community development programmes.
CDM advocates and networks with people and peer organizations at the local, regional and national levels to promote Just, equitable, empowered and prosperous societies through human rights, social justice, resilient development and advocacy for the benefit of poor and marginalized communities.

Over the past 15 years, CDM has undertaken several projects in remotest VDCs of above mentioned districts. Efforts are made to reach most deprived sections of the districts(MarchaKhadauna, Bhuja and of Nawalparasi etc.)through massive social mobilization, advocacy and disaster risk reduction is commended by government and non-governmental stakeholders while target communities being leader and always remain in driving seat.

CDM as a facilitator has always remained positive, appreciative and supportive in achieving the intended objectives. CDM Nepal’s efforts in working and its massive involvement in supporting the implementation of district preparedness plans is highly appreciated by donor and partner organizations reflecting our high degree of coordinated work with government.

Meaningful participation of programme participants, transparency, accountability, gender and inclusive work and strengthening of community system mobilizing local resources (human, financial and materials) are key strategies to achieve the goals of the project/organization. CDM has demonstrated numerous examples of working in emergencies since 2005 floods; responding more than six response to diarrhea outbreak in mid and far western districts of Nepal.

We maximize impact through resource mobilization, innovative solutions, alliance building for advocacy and facilitating lasting change by capacity strengthening of communities; providing economic opportunity; influencing policy changes, fight against discrimination and mainstreaming risk informed development programming through integrated development, DRR, resilience building and emergency program
